Understanding of insurance requirements for prior authorization.
Understanding of payer processes familiar with Electronic Health Systems/Electronic records (website, fax, contact number) in order to submit appropriate clinical documentation.
Must have a comprehensive understanding of insurance pre-certification requirements, contract benefits, medical terminology and Medical Coding.
Understanding of insurance billing procedures, practices and Authorization denial.
Work requires a high level of problem solving skills related to the insurance cases.
Contact payer to obtain prior authorization. Gather additional clinical and or coding information, as necessary, in order to obtain prior authorization.
Stay updated and research information regarding insurance criteria for prior authorization.
