Contracts Engineer Abu Dhabi
Required an experienced Contracts Engineer to manage the infrastructure contract and subcontracts on a major infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. The role requires working with minimal supervision and functional self-management.
Role Description:
The Contract Engineer shall be reporting to the project lead and functional company leadership.
Contract management, administration and close out of various types of contracts (head contract and subcontracts).
Familiar with FIDIC suite of contracts, the Red Book in particular.
Draft contractual correspondences to the client and supply chain.
Review all draft correspondences from the project team to ensure compliance with the contract and subcontracts.
Oversee and manage contract management process on the project from post-award through close-out following the project procedures, including preparation of delay and disruption claims and back charges.
Support/guide the commercial team in variation preparation/ submission and other matters.
Support preparation of bids (Request for Proposal); assist project lead in preparing scope, schedule, and other documents for the RFP process and subcontracts.
Bear ultimate responsibility for the quality of the contract documents.
Protect the Company’s interests by enforcing the contractual entitlement, mitigating risks, and providing oversight/advice to the project lead.
Lead the contract management activities associated with the contract and subcontracts.
Responsible for post-award activities including conducting kick-off meetings, coordinating all contract correspondences/submissions, preparation and processing of change orders, claims and close-out.
Draft various subcontracts, service/purchase agreements and guarantee templates.
Attend meetings as necessary.
Liaise with and support the Company legal team, if required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Experienced in managing infrastructure contracts on projects of value above AED 300 million.
At least 8 years of relevant total experience in infrastructure and should possess 5 years with major contractors.
Experienced in contract enhancement procedures.
Contract negotiation skills.
Good command of English and excellent written/oral communication skills in English.
